Every April 9, the Day of Memory and Solidarity with the Victims of the Armed Conflict is celebrated in order to raise awareness among citizens about the violent events that have taken place in Colombia as a result of the armed conflict, which has affected this nation for several years.
The creation of this national day arose as a result of the approval of Law 1448 in 2011, referring to the measures of attention, assistance and comprehensive reparation to the victims of the armed conflict in Colombia. On the other hand, recognition is given to all the people who have overcome the acts of violence.
This event invites the national and international community to reflect on the causes and consequences of the armed conflict in that country. It calls for solidarity with the victims and their families, as well as for non-violence, so that future generations may grow up in peace and harmony.
