National Beer Day is celebrated every May 31 in Argentina on the initiative of thousands of Internet users, who sought to highlight one of the most widely consumed beverages in the country.
Although the origin of having an Argentine beer festival is not known, it is known that it was promoted by Internet users.
Whether blonde, red or black, this drink is always drunk cold and in the locals who are specially dedicated to this product can offer more than 30 different taps.
Towards the end of the 19th century, beer was considered an extreme luxury in the country, since Argentina is considered a wine-producing country. It all started with the migratory wave, which created a great demand for this beverage and foreign entrepreneurs quickly found the vein.
According to the website Cerveza Argentina, the first national factory was created by Thomas Stuart in what is today the Retiro neighborhood of Buenos Aires in 1738, called "Zerveza", which in addition to manufacturing it, sold inputs for production.
A little later, in 1888, Otto Bemberg founded the historic Quilmes, in a key location for its production due to the quality of the water and the proximity to the train stations.
This company expanded rapidly thanks to the quick access to domestic raw material. Some time later, it positioned itself as a flagship brand in the country. Because of this, the market was able to satisfy the great demand, which had increased its consumption more than eight times in a very short time. The population, which used to consume 13 million liters per year, grew to an average of 109 million liters per year.
The beer industry was historically a male-dominated sector, which is why organizations such as Birreras Argentinas worked together to make the collaboration of women in this industry more visible.
