Esperanto Day is a date celebrated internationally on July 26, the day of the first publication of the Unua Libro, the first book for learning the grammar of the language, created by Doktoro Esperanto (pseudonym of L. L. Zamenhof). The date (July 26, 1887 according to the Gregorian calendar, July 14, 1887 according to the Julian calendar) commemorates the second approval of the book by the Russian censorship, receiving permission to publish.
On some occasions, Zamenhof Day (December 15), the date of L. L. Zamenhof's birth and also called Esperanto Literature Day or Esperanto Book Day, is mistakenly called Esperanto Day.
