World Agriculture Day

Agriculture is an age-old activity through which food is grown and produced for human consumption. In modern times, according to United Nations data, about 40% of the world's entire habitable land area is dominated by crop agriculture.

To the human eye, microorganisms are unnoticeable, but if we plunge a spoon into the soil we will discover that there are more microorganisms than inhabitants on Earth. According to FAO sources, scientists only know about 2%. Among their essential functions is that of maintaining soil fertility, which is related to the amount of organic matter. Its loss through erosion and the intensification of non-preventive agricultural practices have often resulted in unbalanced soils. Farmers generally understand that a large part of crop profitability comes from mineral fertilization. It is necessary to fertilize not only the plant, but also the soil, because its living part is also necessary for plant development.

World Agriculture Day is celebrated annually. On September 9 as a tribute to those people who dedicate their lives to the cultivation of the land with the aim of producing food of the highest quality for the consumption of a growing society. This day serves as a reminder of the challenges facing the agricultural sector on a global scale as necessary adaptation to climate change and new consumption habits.
