On September 27th of each year, the Dominican Republic celebrates the National Bible Day, declared by law 204-84. This celebration is part of the so-called "month of the Bible" celebrated by Christians in several countries around the world. This date was established by law after an evangelical pastor of San Pedro de Macoris suggested this proposal which was finally approved in the 1980s.
The Bible, also known as the Holy Bible or the Holy Book, is a set of religious texts of Judaism and Christianity. It is actually a collection of many books and includes stories about the Jews, Jesus and the followers of Jesus, commands from God to his people, songs of praise to God, and words of wisdom.
The first Spanish Bible was completed on September 26, 1569.
Catholics celebrate September 30 as the feast day of St. Jerome, who dedicated his life to the study and translation of the Bible into Latin.
