27 September - International Daughters' Day
A daughter is the happy memories of the past, the joyful moments of the present, and the hope and promise of the future. One can make the day special for their daughters by treating them with respect and love and providing them with equal opportunities.
The day originated in India, where little girls are still perceived as a burden and less valuable than boys. Over the years, the holiday has become recognized not only in India but all over the world. There's an International Daughters Day and individual national holidays in many countries. International Daughters' Day was conceptualised to fight against the stigma around having a girl child, thinking of daughters as a liability, and honouring women.
Let us remind you that January 12 is also World Daughter's Day. On December 19, 2011, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 66/170 to declare October 11 as the International Day of the Girl.
