International Fireworks Competition

The wait for darkness is sweetened with music, cabaret and theater performances. Grab your blanket or camping chairs and use the waiting time for a little picnic! The world's most renowned pyrotechnicians compete on five summer evenings and create spectacular firework choreographies against the unique backdrop of the Herrenhausen Gardens.

The International Fireworks Competition in Hanover has been an international competition for pyrotechnicians since 1991.

Before the fireworks teams present their interpretation of the compulsory piece and the subsequent freestyle to the audience, live music, cabaret shows, walk acts and theater themed to the participating country shorten the waiting time for the guests. Many visitors use the time before the fireworks, which start at dusk, to picnic and stroll in the baroque gardens.
