The Lauterbach Premium Market is the largest folk festival in Upper Hesse and has a long tradition. This festival has been celebrated every year since 1266, when Lauterbach was granted town and market rights. It begins on the Saturday before Corpus Christi and ends on the Sunday after Corpus Christi.
Highlights and special features
Parade & beer tapping: The market is traditionally opened with a large parade, followed by the beer tapping and the election of the beer queen.
Animal show & livestock awards: A large animal show with livestock awards is a central part of the market.
Grocer's market & amusement park: Visitors can browse at the grocer's market and have fun in the amusement park on the Große Bleiche.
Music & culinary delights: A wide range of music and culinary specialties invite you to linger.
Strolchenlauf & nocturnal illuminations: Tuesday is reserved for the Strolchenlauf, while on Wednesday the Old Town is illuminated in spectacular lights.
Closing fireworks: The grand finale is a huge fireworks display.
