Martyrs' Intellectuals' Day in Bangladesh is celebrated in memory of those intellectuals who were killed by Pakistani forces during the Liberation War of 1971 on March 25 and more than 200 on December 14. Just two days after the massacre on December 14-16, Pakistani forces surrendered and Bangladesh became independent.
