11 November - Young Readers Day
This day promoting literacy was co-founded in 1989 by Pizza Hut and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. There are so many books and stories to discover, it would take many lifetimes to read them all. Plus, more are being created every day. Reading opens up a lifetime of knowledge, information, success, and happiness. According to the creators of this day, it is "... a special day to recognize the joys and benefits of reading."
Celebrate Young Readers Week by teaching your children about the joys of reading and literacy. In the United States, Young Readers Week is held on the second Monday in November. Discovering the joy of reading is the key to experiencing a life long love of books. Having access to literature and introducing children to books for pleasure reading at a very early age is very important and will have links to higher intellectual development in vovabulary, spelling and mathematics.
The most expensive book ever purchased was sold for $30.8 million. It was Codex Leicester by Leonardo Da Vinci, and it was purchased by Bill Gates.
