If you laid all the aluminum cans recycled in 2010 end to end, they could circle the earth 169 times. A fun way to raise awareness and encourage people to recycle, National Crush a Can Day offers reminders that recycling is a critical part of protecting the earth’s environment.
An actual testing of the beverage can crusher of the present invention, 50 pounds was the maximum force input required to fully crush a seamed steel beverage can whereas the force required to crush all aluminum beverage cans ranged from 5 pounds to 20 pounds.
Place the can on the hot plate and allow the water to heat. Once Steam is visible from the top of the can, quickly with gloves or tongs, flip the can upside down into the bowl of water. If performed correctly the can will be crushed by the atmosphere. Be prepared for a loud noise as the can is rapidly crushed!
