Filellin Day and International Solidarity in Greece is held on April 19. Decree of the President of Greece 130/2008 on the feast day of George [Lord] Byron. This event in the second decade of the month April is annual.

April 19, the date on which the poet and great Philhellene of the 19th century Lord Byron died, has been declared by the Hellenic Republic as Philhellenism and International Solidarity Day. To mark the occasion, a series of events will take place today across the country.
Philhellenism ("the love of Greek culture") was an intellectual movement prominent mostly at the turn of the 19th century. It contributed to the sentiments that led Europeans such as Lord Byron and Charles Nicolas Fabvier to advocate for Greek independence from the Ottoman Empire.
Philhellenism found expression in political publications, as well as in various forms of art, music and literature, from prose and poetry to theatre, opera and ballet.
