17 November - National Butter Day in USA
Nothing goes better with bread than butter! Butter is a dairy product made from the fat and protein components of churned cream. It is a semi-solid emulsion at room temperature, consisting of approximately 80% butterfat. It is used at room temperature as a spread, melted as a condiment, and used as an ingredient in baking, sauce making, pan frying, and other cooking procedures.
Nov. 17 2021 is the first-ever National Butter Day in the U.S. It’s finally official, thanks to efforts by Associated Milk Producers Inc. of New Ulm, Minn., that there's a designated National Butter Day. There have been numerous self-proclaimed butter days in the past, but they have been temporary and regional. For example, on October 25, which celebrated it.
In recognition of National Butter Day, AMPI encourages everyone to celebrate by buying U.S.-made butter, using it in cooking and baking, and by shopping for butter-rich treats. You can add to the celebration today by posting on social media with the hashtag: #NationalButterDay.
