Coffee ice cream has been around for centuries. It is believed to have originated in Italy, where it was made with coffee and cream. It became popular in the United States in the late 1800s. Around this time, ice cream shops began to add coffee to their menu. Coffee has always been one of my favorite flavors of ice cream because while it has hints of bitterness, it is still sweet, creamy, and delicious.
By 1770, Giovanni Basiolo made his success in New York selling semi-frozen coffee and milk products popular in Genoa. Finally, in 1869, coffee ice cream was first used in a parfait and then appeared again in a cookbook in 1919.
