Columbus Day is one of the names given to October 12, the day that commemorates the arrival to America of the navigator Christopher Columbus in 1492. This day is celebrated in most Spanish-speaking countries and in the United States.
On October 12, the Day of Respect for Cultural Diversity is commemorated, thus promoting historical analysis and reflection, intercultural dialogue, recognition and respect for the native peoples found in the territory of what is now the Argentine Nation. In turn, the National Plan Against Discrimination established, among its prerogatives, that October 12 be a "day of historical reflection and intercultural dialogue".
