The eco-social market economy takes ecological, social and economic aspects into account. It ties in with a social market economy. In addition to free trade and measures to stimulate the economy, the ecosocial market economy also takes into account the aspects that ensure a better climate in our environment.
Since the year 2000, September 12th has been the Day of the Ecological-Social Market Economy. This day is a reminder that ecology should be realized more on market-based paths.
Since 1994 and the amendment in 2002, one can say that the eco-social market economy has found expression in Article 20a of the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany ("The state is also responsible for protecting future generations, the natural foundations of life within the framework of the constitutional order through legislation and in accordance with law and justice by the executive power and the judiciary").
