Grandparents' Day is a commemorative day dedicated to the elderly within the family, which complements Mother's Day and Father's Day. This day is celebrated only in some countries, with differences in the denomination, motivation and date.
In Ecuador, the National Day of the Elderly is celebrated on October 31. The Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion, (MIES), greets the elderly on the National Day of Grandfathers and Grandmothers which is commemorated in Ecuador, the last Sunday of August. On September 29, the National Day of the Elderly will be celebrated and on October 1, the World Day of the Elderly. The Universidad del Adulto Mayor de Cuenca is preparing several events so that these dates do not go unnoticed.
