National Health-Building Day in Thailand was adopted on November 19, 2002.
The Thailand universal health care coverage scheme was instituted in 2001 and The Thailand Ministry of Public Health is restructuring its information systems to support this reform. Under Thailand’s health schemes, 99.5% of the population have health protection coverage.
Initially, under the scheme, no patient paid more than Baht 30.00 (about US$1.00) per visit to accredited hospitals and health centers for inpatient or outpatient care, including drugs. In 2007, the co-payment was abolished and the Universal Coverage Health Scheme became free.
