Broadcaster's Day is celebrated on December 8 in Peru. This coincides with the Day of the Immaculate Conception on which the Archangel Gabriel announces to the Virgin Mary that she is going to conceive a child by the work and grace of the Lord. That is, according to this conception, he was the first speaker in earthly history.
It was authorized by Supreme Resolution of 1954 the Congress of the Republic and signed by the President of the Republic Manuel Arturo Odría. The deputy José Julio García Porras, a friend of the announcer Fidel Ramírez Lazo, was the one who publicly announced the Announcer's Day after an approval to approach the Day of the Immaculate Conception.
