The National Association of Nurses of El Salvador in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Salvadoran Institute of Social Security developed an act to celebrate the day of the nursing professional and award recognition with the medal "Sor María Teresa Lang” and the “ANES” medal to nurses from the hospital and community area of the different health establishments in the country.
On May 6, 1948, the Legislative Assembly, considering that "the nursing profession is one of the most arduous, self-sacrificing and noble for the benefit of society, and that the great benefits that its members contribute to humanity are worthy for that of the public encouragement of the homeland” declared May 15 as “Nursing Professional Day”.
