Archaeology is the science that studies the changes that take place in societies, from the first groupings of humans to the current ones, through material remains dispersed in the geography and preserved through time. Archaeology can be considered both a social science and a branch of the humanities.
The Day of the Archaeologist in Mexico is celebrated on May 3 because this day is the Day of the Holy Cross, which, according to tradition, was found and recovered by St. Helena on a day like today but in the year 326 in Jerusalem. This celebration is linked to this saint who not only excavated and recovered the Holy Cross, but also for having founded the Church of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem.
In many states of Mexico, many states celebrate the month of archeology; a program that was instituted in 2007 at the INAH of Baja California to intensify the actions of dissemination and promotion of the archaeological heritage.
Surely, in some archaeological excavation, the conclusion was reached that masons and archaeologists had something in common that deserved to be celebrated.
