The Ministry of Public Works is an institution that has played an important role in the evolution of the country's infrastructure, cementing on the basis of planning, maintenance and execution of works throughout the national territory.
On January 2, 1941, the new political constitution came into force, repealing that of 1904, which in Article 3 of Title 1 states: "The Executive Power is constituted by the President of the Republic and the Ministers of State". Subsequently, Decree 1° of June 15, 1945, repealed the 1941 constitution, and while another constitution was being formulated, the Ministry of Public Works was recognized within the Cabinet. It is from that date that its current status is recognized, which was ratified by the 1946 constitution and also by the 1972 constitution. Finally, Law 35 of June 30, 1978, allows the reorganization that the Ministry of Public Works currently holds.
