4 April - Hanover Spring Festival
The Hanover Spring Festival is a folk festival in Hanover that has been held every year for three weeks in March, April or May on the Schützenplatz in Hanover since 1954. In 2023, it was attended by over 650,000 people, making it Lower Saxony's largest spring festival.
The rides on offer to visitors range from cozy classics (such as carousels, Ferris wheels, bumper cars and ghost trains) to wild high-tech rides (such as roller coasters, white water rides and the like) and all kinds of amusement rides with sensory illusions, etc.
The Spring Festival begins on the Saturday before Easter Sunday and runs for three weeks. Every Wednesday is Family Day, when there are usually discounts of up to 50%. The Family Day program includes face painting, a children's flea market and a Punch and Judy show. A fireworks display is held on Fridays, and there is a backstage tour of the fairground and the Herrenhausen skat tournament on each day of the festival. The "fireworks" are set off into the sky by real professionals and are definitely worth a visit! On "Ladies Day", the focus is on the fairer sex. Every year at the spring festival there is the "Heisse Räder", which is a one-off of the Musik Express type.
