The spring fair in Speyer is a traditional folk festival that takes place every year on the town's fairground. With a history dating back to the Middle Ages, it is one of the oldest folk festivals in the region. The fair was granted the privilege to be held as early as 1245, which underlines its historical significance.
The fair is opened by the mayor, who taps a barrel of beer in the Barth beer garden. Afterwards, visitors can enjoy numerous attractions: From the impressive Ferris wheel to exciting carousels and classic bumper cars - there is plenty on offer for young and old alike.
The spring fair also has plenty of culinary delights to offer. Visitors can indulge themselves at various stands with sweets, ice cream and savory crêpes. There are special offers on Family Days, which take place on Wednesdays: Ticket prices are halved throughout the day and the sales stands entice visitors with discounts.
A special highlight is the big Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday. More than 2,000 Easter eggs are hidden on the Messplatz, and the children enthusiastically set off in search of them.
The spring fair in Speyer thus combines historical traditions with modern entertainment and culinary delights - a festival for the whole family.
