Sociology is the study of human society, its structure, patterns of development, and human behavior in a team. Sociology as a science in Ukraine occupies a leading position in the socio-political analysis of modern society. A sociologist is a professional who studies society as a whole and the laws of its development. In practice, sociologists analyze the functioning of social institutions, study interactions between communities, etc.

October 1 is the Day of the Sociologist of Ukraine. This professional holiday is relatively young. At the initiative of the delegates from the Lviv Regional Branch of the Sociological Association of Ukraine, the VII Congress of the SAA in 2011 decided to declare October 1 as the Day of the Sociologist of Ukraine.
