It’s a day to get the word out and encourage people to adopt black dogs, who often get left behind in shelters just because of the color of their fur.
Black dogs are just as adventurous, snuggly, protective, silly, and wonderful as dogs of any other color. Really let this sink in, especially if you are considering adopting a pup in the near future.
Because they're so smart, black Labs are often used as service or guide dogs. Similarly, their excellent noses make them great candidates to become search-and-rescue dogs.
