National Day of the Deaf in Mexico

Deaf people often have profound hearing loss, which means they hear little or nothing and communicate using sign language.

It should be noted that the Mexican Sign Language is officially recognized as a national language and is part of the linguistic heritage of the Mexican nation.

In Mexico, 1.3 percent of the population aged three and older cannot hear, according to information from the National Household Survey 2017, from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography.
