This date honors the memory of María Remedios Del Valle, a patriot who fought alongside Manuel Belgrano and died on November 8, 1847.
Law 26,852 establishes November 8 as the National Day of Afro-Argentineans and Afro-Culture, in honor of María Remedios del Valle, to whom General Manuel Belgrano conferred the title of Captain of the Army for her courage and bravery on the battlefield.
The main objective of this national celebration is to promote public policies that serve to make visible and give full support to Afro culture in its different disciplines and community expressions.
