The Schueberfouer is a folk festival with a long tradition dating back to 1340. It generally begins on the eve of St. Bartholomew's Day, i.e. August 23, and lasts for 20 days. Originally, it was a market held in honor of Saint Bartholomew. Over the centuries, the market developed into a folk festival with fairground rides, food and drink and entertainment.
Today, the Schueberfouer is the largest folk festival in Luxembourg and the Greater Region. It takes place every year from the end of August to the beginning of September on the Glacis field in Luxembourg City. The festival attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from Luxembourg and abroad every year.
Carousels and rides: The Schueberfouer offers a wide range of rides for all ages, from adrenaline-pumping roller coasters to cozy carousels for the little ones.
Food and drink: The Schueberfouer has a variety of stalls offering traditional Luxembourgish specialties such as "Gromperekichelcher" (potato pancakes) and "Riesling" (white wine) as well as international dishes.
Live music events, shows and other entertainment programs take place during the Schueberfouer. On the last weekend of the Schueberfouer there is a big fireworks display.
