The first International BLS Day was celebrated in 1997 after it was established in Oslo, 1996.
It is organised by the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science (IFBLS) which has over 185,000 members around the world, this includes IBMS Head of Education Alan Wainwright, who is on the IFBLS Board of Directors.
