The Telegraph Operator's Day is celebrated on April 27 because it was during this day but in 1870 that the first telegraph line that linked the capital with the Port of Liberty was inaugurated in El Salvador, this work being the beginning of national progress.
In this way, the president of that time, Ricardo Rivas Vides, decided to declare April 27 as Telegraph Operator's Day through Decree 91 of 1946, which was published in the Official Gazette number 200 of September 10, 1946.
Although today, this communication system no longer works and has been replaced by modern forms of communication, telegraphs were a giant leap in the world of communications, which until then depended on smoke signals, mirrors, steeds and stagecoaches.
