The National Engineer's Day is celebrated in Uruguay every October 12, commemorating the first degree collation of Uruguayan engineers, which took place on the same day in 1892, at the Solís theater. At the ceremony, the Faculty of Engineering —then, the Faculty of Mathematics and Related Branches— of the University of the Republic awarded their diplomas to bridge and road engineers José Serrato and Eduardo García de Zúñiga, and civil engineer Pedro Magnou.
