1 October - World Cocoa and Chocolate Day
Cocoa/chocolate is thought be an aphrodisiac. Research to date supports that chocolate can be enjoyed as part of a balanced, heart-healthy diet and lifestyle. It takes 400 cocoa beans to make one pound of chocolate (or 454g).
The Swiss consume more chocolate per capita than any other nation on earth: 22 pounds each compared to 11 pounds per person in the United States. World Chocolate Day on 7th July celebrates to mark the introduction of chocolate into Europe by Christopher Columbus during his fourth voyage in the 'New World' between 1502 and 1504.
Celebrated each 1st October, the World Cocoa and Chocolate day is dedicated to value the work of small planters from cocoa-producing countries, increase connections and synergies between all the cocoa industry’s stakeholders, raise consumers’ awereness about the provenance and the manufacturing conditions of chocolate.
