Herring Festival: For six days, Helsinki hosts a fish fair featuring salted, smoked, lightly salted, herring with mustard, various sauces and marinades - you can buy fish not only from fishermen and vendors in tents in Kauppatori, but also directly from boats. During the holiday, guests are invited to taste traditional soups and fish pies and take part in the Dish-Surprise culinary competition, where a prize is awarded to the most original chef.
